August 7, 1959 Letter from Father John M. Daly, S.J. to Edwin Beitzell allowing the Historical Society to take possession of the cannon at Saint Inigoes on 2 conditions: put a replacement boundary marker on the lot line, and indicate on any marker for the cannon in its new location that the Province granted the cannon. According to handwritten notes on the letter, the Society did what was asked.
January 29, 1963 Letter from J. Frank Raley to Mary E. Hoff telling her the Old Jail building would soon be available to the Historical Society.
July 14, 1964 Opinion from the Finance Officer of the District of Columbia that the Society was not exempt from sales tax in the District. Why this would be an issue is not explained.
August 17, 1970 Letter from J. Frank Raley to Charles Fenwick informing Fenwick that the Old Jail Committee had voted to open the Jail as the offices and record storehouse of the Society and to develop the visitor center later. He mentioned a rough sketch of how to use the rooms, but the sketch was not with the letter.Collection
