3 1/4"h x 5 1/2"w colored postcard advertising Saint Mary's County home coming week in October 1907. An 11/16" band of gold ran from the upper left corner to the lower right corner. In the center of the card was an oval frame around what purported to be a portrait of Leonard Calvert. In heavy black letters "St. Mary's Home Coming Week" flew up over the portrait. On the left "Come join in the festivities" and on the right "Leonardtown Oct. 7-12, 1907" and in a curving banner under the portrait "His first, best country, ever is his home."

Text on verso: in light black ink: "Aren't you going to try and come home some time during the week? I hope so. R. Oct. 1st 1907" It was addressed to "Mr. Ethelbert Abell 208 W. Franklin St. Baltimore, Md." There was a green penny stamp with a full face portrait of Benjamin Franklin, but there was no postmark, so perhaps the card was never mailed.Collection
