This tintype is mounted behind a toasty brown card with an oval opening surrounded by an embossed rope. Someone pasted school paper over the back of the piece to hold it in place. The woman was very slender. She had a heart shaped face. Her eyelids were drooping and she looked exhausted. She had dark hair parted in the middle and pulled back behind her ears. The hair was gathered up somehow in the back and there was a bow or some sort of fabric decoration on that hair. She was wearing a dark dress with a small collar that may have been velvet. She was wearing what may have been a cameo brooch. There were sizable buttons on the bodice of her dress. She had long sleeves with additional fabric in gathers or pleats at the shoulder. Her left arm was bent and lying on a table or some other support. There was a ring on her third finger with a dark stone.
