The primary focus of the book is Maryland politics, the General Assembly, taxation, the death of former Governor Ritchie, the death of President Roosevelt, the end of prohibition, oyster harvesting, the effect of the depression on Maryland and the United States, and Mr. Coad's role in these affairs. Mr. Coad was chair of the Senate Finance Committee during part of this time and was extremely visible in the debates on how to pay for relief for those most impacted by the Depression. Mr. Coad also considered running for governor and state comptroller. There are some articles about Saint Mary's County and many obituaries. These articles are pasted in a square scrapbook on light brown paper. Several articles which were originally pasted in were cut out later.Collection
