Sewall home on Cedar Point, Md.Entry/Object ID
1995.001.1622Description
Black and white 8"h x 10"w photo of the Sewall house on Cedar Point. This home was demolished during construction of the Navy base. This view is the gable end of a two story clapboard house. A chimney with a corbel pierced the roof left of the peak. A large tree was between the camera and the house and even though it was winter and there were no leaves on the tree, branches still obscured some details. There may have been a small window in the peak of the gable end. There were two six over six windows evenly spaced on the second floor. The windows had dark shutters. There were two six over six windows in the same locations on the first floor. There were stains on the clapboard that indicate these windows also had shutters. To the left was a shed roof porch that probably was centered on that wall. It was two bays deep, but it is not possible to tell how many bays wide. There was a hand railing around the porch. On the right was a large two story porch with a flat roof. It was probably two bays deep and at least three bays wide. There was a substantial railing on the second floor and a less substantial railing on the first floor. There were no visible basement windows. There was one indistinct outbuilding on the left. The house appeared to be empty.
