Black and white 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w photo of Sotterley. This is a view of the waterside porch. The main building is a story and a half style, with one continuous dormer on the second floor. There is a small chimney visible on the left. In the center of the photo is a cupola with a pyramid roof and a spire. The four visible windows in the dormer are six over six double hung windows with dark shutters. The porch has a shed roof supported on white pillars. There is a dark colored door one step above the porch floor. The window on the left is a six over six double hung with dark shutters. The window to the right of the door has a double shutter that folds to the right. Next to it is a six over six double hung window with the standard shutter arrangement. There are folding chairs visible on the porch. On the scrapbook page, Mr. Fenwick wrote, "Built by Secretary George Plater in 1730. His son became Governor of Maryland and lived in this old mansion."
