Black and white 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w photo of the land side of Sotterley from the far side of the circular drive. The near end of the building is a gable roofed story and a half addition at right angles to the main building. The roof line incorporates a three bay porch that covers all of one side. There is a gable roof dormer in the roof line on the porch side. In the gable end, there are two windows up in the peak, one possibly on a stairway, and another on the first floor. The main building is behind this addition. Three gable roof dormers are visible in the roof. Another addition turns at right angles to the main house and it has a gable roof dormer also. A picket fence runs between the drive and all the buildings and there is a wooden arch over the entrance to the path to the main house. Two men are standing near that arch, a car is parked in the drive, and three women are coming up the hill on the right. There appear to be flowering trees in the yard.
