Description

Water color by Father Stephen J. Tushak of Sotterley, Hollywood, Md. It is a spring scene. This is a large brick and frame home. The view is of a brick gable end. A large dormer begins at the edge of the brick and accomodates six six over six windows with green shutters. Beyond it are two more individual dormers with similar windows and shutters. At the visible end of the dormer is a tiny four-light window and that face of the dormer is painted green. On the lower level, a shed type roof extends from the bottom of the dormer and runs to the far end of the main house. The porch is supported by wooden posts and lots of ivy. There are three nine over nine windows with green shutters, a door, another nine over none window, a door with a transom window, two more shuttered windows, and another door. There are two interior chimneys at the end of the dormer of the main house. There is a cupola in the center of the roof line. Beyond the frame part of the house is a brick addition which has a gable roof. This roof is oriented ninety degrees to the rest of the house. One window is visible on each floor and a porch is suggested. At the other side of the originally mentioned gable end is an addition whose roofline is ninety degrees different from the main house. It, too, has a shed roof to cover a porch which projects past the brick gable end. In this roof is one visible dormer with a gable roof of its own. An inside end chimney rises from the roof peak. Another large chimney is visible, but its source is not clear. One the first floor, a single window with green shutters is visible.
