Sotterley from the gardenEntry/Object ID

Black and white photo 8"h x 10"w of the house from the formal garden on the land side of Sotterley. It was taken in the spring. I believe the camera is facing west and that the photographer is standing in the garden. On the grounds are many trees. The story and a half house has a sloping roof that incorporates its porches. This view shows a small portion of the main house and an addition that forms an ell with the main building. There is an inside end large chimney in the addition that straddles the roof peak. Three chimneys are visible on the main house. Three dormers with windows and shutters are visible in the roof, one on the addition and two on the main house. A small square window is visible in the dormer on the left side of the house. On the first floor of the addition under the porch roof a door and two shuttered windows are visible. There are some chairs on the lawn. In the foreground a lilacs, other shrubs and flower beds and a plaster birdbath. There are many tulips in various beds. A strip of lawn leads the eye toward the house.
