Black and white photo 8"h x 10"w of the house and main driveway on the land side of Sotterley. It was taken in the late spring. I believe the camera is facing southwest and that the photographer is standing near the little school house. The circular drive goes past the main entrance to the house. In the distance is a white picket fence with an arching trellis in the center. On the grounds are many trees. The large story and a half house has a sloping roof that incorporates its porches. Several dormers with windows and shutters are visible in the roof. An addition that is at right angles to the main house juts out to the camera about one third of the way from the left end of the roof. A small quarter moon window is visible in the ivy that covers the gable end. On the first floor of the main house a door and two shuttered windows are visible. On the far right is another small story and a half brick building whose roofline is perpendicular to that of the main house. It has windows in the attic space, a window on a stairwell, and a window on the first floor. Most of the windows have dark shutters. There is another small building at the right edge of the photo, but the details are obscured.
