Black and white photo 10"h x 8"w of the porch on the water side of Sotterley. It was taken in the summer. I believe the camera is facing west. On the first floor white clapboard wall there are four six over six windows with shutters on the right, a screen door, another window with shutters, another screen door, and two more windows with shutters. The porch roof is supported by tapered white posts set on stone or concrete. Several of the posts are equipped with decorative vines. There are chairs and benches on the porch. The porch floor is made of large rectangular blocks of stone with the narrow end pointing to the house. From this vantage point, the stones are in a running bond pattern. There is no difference in elevation between the porch floor and the lawn. The wooden ceiling on the porch is probably painted blue. It slopes up a little from the eave and then levels out nearer the house wall. Guttering and a downspout are visible on the nearest porch post.
