Color photo on 8 1/2"h x 10"w heavy paper of the porch on the water side of Sotterley. It was probably taken in the fall. I believe the camera is facing west. The brick gable end is completely covered with ivy. The dormer runs the entire length of the roof. On the gable end is a tiny square four light window. There is an inside end chimney at the roof peak. There is a white cupola with a pyramid roof in the center of the roof line and another chimney visible at the end of the dormer. In the dormer are six windows with dark shutters. Each window has six lights over six lights. Beyond the large dormer are two other small dormers, each with the same style window and shutters as the large dormer. There is white clapboard siding on the face of the dormer. The shed roof porch runs the entire length of the building, one bay deep and ten bays long. The roof is supported by graceful tapered wooden posts set on stone or concrete bases. There is more white clapboard on the first floor wall of the house. Nearest the camera on the first floor are four large six over six windows with dark shutters. Next is an entry with a screen door. One large window is between this entry and another one, also with a screen door. Beyond that are at least two windows; the view is obscured by trees. There are several folding chairs and at least one bench on the porch. Five posts have decorative vines climbing toward the roof. The yard is littered with fallen leaves.Collection
