Sotterley postcard--Interior 3Entry/Object ID
1995.001.2495Description
3 1/2"h x 5 1/2"w color postcard showing the drawing room of Sotterley. The photo focussed on part of the fireplace and alcove wall with its elaborate carving and half shells at the top of the alcoves. There was a fire in the fireplace. Gray stone surrounded the firebox and there was elaborate carving around that. If the colors in the image are true, the room was painted a soft yellow. Chairs, a bench, and tables were arranged about the room. The panelled wall held a very tall mirror flanked by sconces with crystal hanging decorations. Beneath the mirror was a demilune brown chest with many decorations. There were several pieces of porcelain on the mantel and candlesticks scattered about the room. The floor appeared to be carpeted. [This card scanned too poorly to keep the scanned image.]
