2024.001.0036Description
An event was held at the Lieutenant Webster School on Battery Avenue and Clement Street in Baltimore on April 19, 1916 to unveil a tablet that honored the life of Lieutenant Webster. John Adams Webster was the grandfather of the speaker. There is an inconsistency declaring him a Lieutenant, when other sources credit him as a Captain. The speech discusses the sword given to him for his defense of Baltimore city in September 14, 1814. Alexander Shaw is noted as the speaker's grandson, and the great-great-grandson of John Adams Webster. The principal of the school at the time was Miss Annie F. North.Collection
