Name/Title
Square in Leonardtown thirty years apartEntry/Object ID
1995.001.1783Description
This black and white photocopy may have come from the Baltimore Sun. The upper photo shows the town square in the 1940s or 1950s and an inset shows a photo from thirty years previous, although not from quite the same vantage point as the top photo. There are curbs and gutters on each side of the square, Duke's Bar is in the mid-ground, and a very tall flagpole is in the middle distance. Traffic flows both ways on each side of the square. The square tapers to a point in the center of the upper photo. There are cars, trucks, and buses in the photo, including a Jeep woodie on the far left. The square in the lower photo is enclosed by a wrought iron fence and no vehicles are in sight. The other side of the page is just an enlargement of the two photos.

Caption for photo: "The village green and main street of Leonardtown as they appear now (above) and as they looked about 30 years agog (left). The building at the left in the old picture is the St. mary's Hotel, and next to it is a general store. Both these structures (background, above) have changed little."Collection
