Description

This is a color photograph of St. Augustine's Church in Chesapeake City, Md. as it appeared in June 1989. It is a small plain gable roof building with cafe-au-lait siding, dark brown trim and a two tier spire. The photo is of the gable end entrance. The spire appears to arise from the roof peak some distance back from the front elevation. The first level is square with substantial molding at the top. The next tier has the corners cut at an angle to create eight sides. This is echoed by the roof. On the side facing the camera, there is a round arch louvered opening in this tier. The metal spire roof tapers up to a rounded top and there is a tall delicate cross above that. In the center of the gable end near the roof peak is a round window with six lights around a small circular light--a sort of bullseye effect. The center door is protected by a small plain gable end cover supported by plain pillars. The wooden porch floor is one step above the ground. The door itself is dark and detail is not visible. The door is flanked by six over nine light? windows with dark shutters and sash. There are dense shrubs on each side of the door between the building and the circular drive. **************************************** Text on verso: "St. Augustine's Church Ches.
