2019.009.0027Description
5"h x 8"w black and white photo of a locomotive built for the Government Hospital for the Insane, aka St. Elizabeth's. There were two pair of driving wheels for this engine. There was coupling equipment on the front, plus a large illuminated light pointing forward. The road number 2 was on the side of the light. The tall smokestack had an attractive top. It was followed by a dome, the bell, and two more domes, all on the firebox. A whistle was attached to the largest dome. The cab had three windows on the side and more than three windows pointing front. "Government Hospital for the Insane" was in large letters" on the side of the firebox. That was the official name of the facility, but it was known to all the world as St. Elizabeth's.
