Black and white 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w photo of St. Francis Xavier Church at Newtown. This view of the long side of the sanctuary is taken from the field. There is a three sided vestibule with a pyramid roof. The bell tower is just behind the point of the vestibule roof. The tower is four sided with a pyramid roof. There is a louvred arch where the bell would be, so it is not visible. The tower is topped with a sphere and a cross. The vestibule is two stories tall with a three over three double hung window in the two visible faces of the second floor. There is an etched? leaded glass? window next to the door on the first floor. The double door is very plain and only two steps above the ground. The sanctuary has a gable roof with the bell tower on the peak at the entry. There are five double hung windows with either etching or leaded glass on this side of the sanctuary. There is a gable roof addition on the back that probably is the sacristy. It has one visible window. There is an oil tank at the corner of the building. Visible beyond the church is the priests' residence, a two story brick building with a large double chimney and a sizable gable roofed porch. There is a wire fence around the church and the priests' monument is just inside the fence near the entrance.
