5"h x 7"w black and white photo of St. Francis Xavier Church at Newtown. This view was of the long side of the sanctuary. There was a three sided vestibule with a pyramid roof. The bell tower was just behind the point of the vestibule roof and was four sided with a pyramid roof. There was a louvered arch on each face. The tower was topped with a sphere and a cross. The vestibule was two stories tall with a three over three double hung window in the two visible faces of the second floor. There was an etched? leaded glass? window next to the door on the first floor. The double door was very plain and only two steps above the ground. There was a light on a pole to guide worshipers to the entrance. The sanctuary had a gable roof with the bell tower on the peak at the entry, a small metal chimney about halfway down the length of the peak and an outside end chimney at the opposite gable end. There was a separate roof to cover a small projection in the building on the far end. There was scaffolding on the right side of the sanctuary because the church was getting a new roof. There was a wire fence around the whole building.
