5"h x 7"w black and white landscape orientation photograph of Saint George's Protestant Episcopal Church, aka Poplar Hill Church. This photo shows the interior of the church at an unknown date. The sanctuary had a rounded arch ceiling over the center and flat ceilings on the sides. The ceiling was supported by very plain pillars, some with small light fixtures on them. The area of the altar was square, enclosed in a white railing with a dark top. There were draperies with a lace overlay hanging from a dark valence. There was a golden cross on the altar and several candles. The pulpit was on the left and elevated. It had five panels and a lectern and two candles. There was a leaded glass window on the left side of the altar and similar windows on the long wall. The windows were set into the thick walls. The window? on the right side of the altar appeared to be encased, but I can't tell exactly how or why. The pews were white with dark trim, but did not have doors. There are hymnal holders on the back of each pew. The floor is probably carpeted with something dark.
