Black and white photograph 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w of the interior of St. Ignatius Church in St. Inigoes. Mr. Fenwick wrote, "This church was built in 1736 and is the third church built in St. Inigoes Manor. It is the oldest Catholic Parish in English speaking America." This view is of one side of the ceiling of the sanctuary. The barrel vault is painted with many decorations and sunbursts. To the right of the altar an arch is painted on the wall and surrounded by molding and other decorations. The space has a statue of ? Peter? mounted on the wall. Between the painted space and the wall of the building are elaborate paintings--the one on the right has crossed keys, an orb, a book, a shepherd's crook and other elements. There are framed saints? stations of the cross? pictures hanging on the wall between the leaded glass windows. The gallery and its pews are visible above the pictures.
