Black and white photograph 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w of the interior of St. Ignatius Church in St. Inigoes. Mr. Fenwick wrote, "This church was built in 1736 and is the third church built in St. Inigoes Manor. It is the oldest Catholic Parish in English speaking America." This view is of the ceiling. The barrel vault is painted with many decorations and panels. The small rectangular panel visible in this photo has a rectangle in the center with the date? 1540. A larger panel has a dove in a sunburst--probably the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. A small part of the arch above the altar painting is visible on the left.
