Black and white photograph 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w of St. Ignatius Church in St. Inigoes. Mr. Fenwick wrote, "This church was built in 1736 and is the third church built in St. Inigoes Manor. It is the oldest Catholic Parish in English speaking America." This view is of the east end of the building with the sacristy addition. The steeple is a square tower capped by a louvred belfry with a hip roof and a cross on the peak. A lightning rod is barely visible at the east end of the roof and the grounding wires drop straight down from the roof peak, cross the sacristy roof and come down the corner of the sacristy to the ground. The building is painted brick. It has a gable roof with cornice returns at the eaves on both the main building and the sacristy. At the cornice return on the main building there is a dark line that runs across the gable end of the building to the sacristy roof. Whether it is decorative or structural is not clear. There is one tall lancet window capped with brick hoods painted in a contrasting color visible on the south wall. The foundation of the sanctuary and sacristy is painted a contrasting color. On the wall near the sacristy roof is an odd shaped protrusion that may the housing for a burglar alarm. The sacristy is a story and a half gable roofed addition. It has an inside end chimney in its gable end. Four over two double hung windows flank the invisible chimney stack on the upper floor. There are no dormers. On the south wall, a white door with a row of dark bricks above provides entry from the outside. On the gable end there is a nine over six double hung window capped by a row of bricks of a contrasting color. There is a similar opening near the north wall, but it is not a window. There is access to a cellar just under the window.
