Black and white 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w photo of the St. James Church at Trappe. This is a gable roof building with white siding and dark paint used to outline the roof, corners, and window openings. There is an entry addition on the gable end, also with a gable roof. There is a double wooden entry door three steps above the ground. Above the door is a large double gothic arch window set in a large rectangle. There is a six over six double hung window on the side of the entry space. The square spire and bell tower rise from the entry roof with solid walls until maybe three feet past the roof peak of the main building and then there are dark louvres. There is a pyramid roof on the spire with a cross on the peak. The roof peak has a small chimney a few feet along from the bell tower, lightning conductors, and another chimney that may be on the outside of the gable end. On the gable end of the main building is a large rectangular window to the right of the entrance addition. Its shutters are closed. All the visible corners are wrapped in wood that is painted a dark color. On the long side of the building are three large rectangular windows that may have painted screening on them. Near the back corner of the building is another window that is not nearly as tall as the others. There appears to be an addition on the back of the church that is two stories tall. A window is just visible on each floor. A driveway goes to the left of the church and there is a story and a half house with two dormers and a long screen porch in the distance.
