Description

Water color by Father Stephen Tushak of Saint Jerome's Manor, Dameron, Maryland. It is a spring scene. This is a story and a half house with a possible attic. There is a twin-stack outside end chimney with corbel caps on the right and a single stack outside end chimney with a corbel cap on the left. Each chimney has a lightning-rod. A hyphen and addition are on the left also. In the visible roof are two gable dormers with twelve-light windows and one tiny gable dormer with a six-light window higher in the roof. Each dormer has a decorative piece on the dormer peak. The roof line extends beyond the front eave to form a porch roof. The porch has four bays with segmental arch finishes. The porch appears to have a centered double entry door flanked by full length green shutters. On each side of the door is one nine over nine double hung window with green shutters. There is a bench on the porch. To the right of the main house is a small square red frame single-story building with a pyramidal roof topped by a fleur-de-lis ornament. The little house has one visible six over six window with green shutters. There is s lovely scalloped soffit at the eaves. Beyond it is the suggestion of a large red barn. On the other end of the house, the hypen attaches to the main bloc behind the chimney. It, too is painted red and has a scalloped soffit. A door and one six over six window are visible in the part of the building. The story and a half addition has a gable roof and is oriented ninety degrees to the main block. It has an inside end chimney at the near end (with lightning rod) and there is an ornament on the very end peak of the roof. On the second floor end is one tiny four-light window and in the visible roof are three hip-roof dormers. There is the suggestion of another such dormer on the other side. On the lower level, there are two nine over nine windows with green shutters in the brick end. The other side of the building is frame or log and is painted white. It has a centered door and one window on each side. These windows appear to have brown shutters. The yard is beautifully landscaped and has two urns on pedestals.
