3 1/2"h x 3"w black and white photo of the St. Mary's Academy building. This was the 1885 version in the process of being torn down. The building was three stories tall with a mansard roof. It was three bays wide and four bays deep. The front elevation faced the Hollywood Road. A small steeple was in the center of the roof. It had louvers on four sides and a tall flared pyramid roof with a cross still in place. On the roof level, there were three large windows on the narrow end and four windows on the long wall. All the glazing was removed. On the second floor, nearly all the exterior walls had been removed--one could see through the building. On the first floor, most of the exterior walls remained, as did the glazing. There was a flat roofed porch over a large central door. On the first floor in the back was a connecting hall to the large building behind. It had four gable faces in its roof for a cruciform effect. There was a Palladian opening in the visible gable, six visible window openings on the second floor, and five visible four light windows on the first floor. Most of the exterior wall board remained.
