Water color by Father Stephen J. Tushak of Saint Mary's Chapel in Saint Mary's City, Maryland. It is a fall scene. This brick church with gable roofs has a nave and transept with a bell tower crowning the roof peak at the crossing. The gables are stepped near the eaves on both the nave and transept. At the gable end of the nave is a double wooden door slightly indented and surrounded by a brick arch. Next to the door, beginning at about six feet, is a niche with a statue. There are two lines of contrasting brick all the way around the structure, one at about two feet from the ground and one about four feet. Above the entry door is a tall, wide tracery window with a brick arch and above that, in the peak of the gable, some special brick work. Above the roof line is some stepped brick work which supports a globe and a cross. On the visible side of the nave are two gothic sash windows topped by brick arches. At the eave line on the transept is more decorative brick work. There are no windows in this side, but there is a double gothic sash window topped by a brick arch in the gable end. Near the top of the gable is a white rondel and more decorative brick work. The bell tower has closely spaced vertical supports with louvres in between. The roof is a medium tall spire which supports a globe and cross. The church is on the corner of two streets and paths lead to the door from each street.
