St. Mary's County Fair directional signEntry/Object ID
1995.001.0800Description
This photograph is of a large, probably wooden, sign directing the public to St. Mary's County Fair on September 17, 18, and 19 [1949], but there is no indication of the sign's location. The sign has a horizontal orientation with St. Mary's Co. on the top line, FAIR in very large letters on the second line, Sept. 17-18-19 on the third line, and a large left-pointing arrow on the fourth line. To the left of the sign, Mr. Fenwick identifies John Gardiner, leaning on the post and to the right of the sign Kitty Bailey, pointing to the text. Mr. Gardiner is dressed in a suit and tie, but no vest and Miss Bailey has on a blouse and skirt and a jacket with one button and substantial lapels. There is a paved road to the right, a power pole with many wires and insulators, wood posts as guard rails behind the sign and another power pole on the left behind the sign.
