1995.001.1204Description
Black and white 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w photo of St. Mary's Manor. Mr. Fenwick's text: "St. Mary's Manor (East St. Mary's) at St. Mary's City. Designed and built by Vincent Camalier, architect, in 1846-7." [This house is known as the Brome-Howard house.] This view shows the water side of the clapboard house and a little of one addition. It has a gable roof with two gable dormers visible. On the second floor there is one six over six double hung window with dark shutters on the right and the other two windows have their shutters closed. On the gable end first floor there are three windows without shutters. The gable roofed and pedimented porch has square posts tapering toward the top. There are three substantial bays, two with a railing. There are supports for screening, but screens are not in place. The porch is two steps above the ground. A two story addition is barely visible on the right. There is a small three over three window with dark shutters visible up under the eaves. There is a bay window with two large windows with slim dark shutters visible on the first floor. Most details are obscured by the trees and other foliage.
