Description

Black and white 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w photo of St. Michael's Manor house in Scotland. It is a two and a half story gable roofed house with a large inside end chimney in each peak. There is a television antenna on the far chimney. There are two gable roofed dormers visible in the roof. They appear to have six over six windows. There are two square four light windows in the gable end of the house at about the same height as the dormers, so they are well down from the roof peak. On the second floor, there is one window in the gable end on the near corner with a large six over six window. There are three similar windows on the long wall of the second floor of the house. On the first floor is one six over six window in the gable end at the near corner and one such window on each side of the porch. The porch has a gable roof at right angles to the main building, with large posts supporting this roof. The entire porch is screened, with three panels of screening on the long side. There is a solid railing, about the height of an interior chair rail, below the screening. On the gable end are two narrow vertical panels of screen on each side of the entry door. There is a small "transom" screen above the door. The door to the house is dimly visible inside the porch. A two car garage is visible beyond this porch--probably attached to the house. There are several trimmed cedar trees that appear to be 6-10 feet high scattered around the foundation. A painted wagon wheel leans against a post. ********************************** Text on verso: "Picture 360. St. Michael's Manor house 1955 B1161" This photo was on page 112 in Binder 2.
