Black and white image 6 1/8"h x 8 3/4"w on 8"h x 10"w paper of the steamboat Dorchester at St. Mary's City. The ship appeared to have three decks. The driving wheel was not quite half way from the bow and there was a huge stack, presumably directly over the powerplant. The name of the steamer was on a signboard over the housing for the wheel. A tree was in the way of the wharf, so it is only apparent that there was lots of activity. The original photo was taken from a considerable distance and this reproduction is grainy, so it is difficult to make out detail.
