Black and white image 6 1/8"h x 9 5/16"w on 8"h x 10"w paper of the steamboat Talbot at a wharf. The background was hazy. The ship appeared to have three decks. The driving wheel was two-thirds of the way to the stern. There was a huge stack, presumably directly over the powerplant. There may have been a keystone symbol on the stack. Lifeboats hung in davits toward the stern. There was an awning over the top deck near the wheelhouse and also over the open area at the bow on the second deck. The name of the steamer was on a signboard over the housing for the wheel. The ship flew some sort of flag from the bow that looked like a checked tablecloth and there was another flag at the stern. The cargo opening was amidships on the lower deck. There were many people waiting on the wharf to the left. There were two swimmers pacing on the beach on the right. The original photo was taken from the shore and this reproduction is grainy, so it is difficult to make out detail.
