1 folder ; 9" x 11 3/4"
This folder contains only 2 items: a handsome printed booklet announcing the auction of Hollin Hall and a dark photocopy of an article about the Dick Family connection to Alexandria.
Hollin Hall originally belonged to George Mason and then to his son, Thomas Mason. According to the auction folder, the house was part of the estate of Harley P. Wilson and was to be sold on July 8, 1941. No minimum bid was listed, nor is there much specific detail about the house and grounds. The amount of acreage was not listed.
The article from the News-Leader of Laurel, Md., July 23, 1970, discusses the Dick family from Scotland. Many members of the family on both sides of the ocean were physicians. Dr. Elisha Cullen Dick was one of George Washington's physicians. There were Dicks in Charles and Anne Arundel counties also.Collection
