Scope and Content

1 p. (12 3/8" x 10") An original? reproduction? of a cartoon by Yardley published in the Baltimore Sun in 1937. The cartoon shows Mr. Coad in 18th century dress holding a crude drawing of a woman clothed in a few rags labeled "Fitten and proper dress for relief." He is leering at an outraged female figure labeled "Maryland," who says, "Why, Mr. Coad!" Coad fought relentlessly against what he viewed as extravagant sums for relief in the state budget.
