1 folder ; 11 3/4" x 9 1/2" Article by Delia Harris Maddox about historic locations in St. Mary's County from the May 25, 1934 issue of St. Mary's Beacon Booklet from the Margaret Brent Business and Professional Women's club proposing a perpetual garden in the St. Mary's City historic site in honor of Margaret Brent. The booklet includes the remarks of Lois Carr at the inaugural Margaret Brent lecture series, a reprint of a 1934 article in the December 1934 issue of the Maryland Historical magazine, the text of a folder about Margaret Brent written by Mary Carter-Roberts, a letter from Buck Briscoe, and quotes from speeches made in 1934. On the front cover is the woodcut of Margaret Brent demanding vote and voice and on the back cover is a thank you to Gov. Harry Hughes and Gov. Albert Ritchie. The covers are a soft gray and the paper inside is white. Booklet from the Margaret Brent Business and Professional Women's club proposing a perpetual garden in the St. Mary's City historic site in honor of Margaret Brent. The booklet includes a copy of an article on Margaret Brent in the Winter 1982 issue of Maryland magazine, the remarks of Lois Carr at the inaugural Margaret Brent lecture series, a reprint of 3 articles about Margaret Brent that appeared in the Baltimore Sun in October of 1908, an article about Margaret Brent taken from Notable Maryland Women by Margaret Masson, the text of a folder about Margaret Brent written by Mary Carter-Roberts, reprint of Chronicles of Mistress Margaret Brent by Mary E. W. Ramey published in 1915, and a picture of Mr. Lancaster, for many years the caretaker of the State House, with a tribute to him by Buck Briscoe. On the front cover is a visualization of Margaret Brent and on the back cover is a thank you to Gov. Harry Hughes and Gov. Albert Ritchie. The covers are a soft white and the paper inside is brown.
