The Court family at dinnerEntry/Object ID
2008.002.0002Description
The Courts were selected to be photographed for a USDA Extension Service filmstrip about self-sufficiency on the farm--grow and preserve your own food to obviate the need for cash. This is a black and white photo.
Photo 1. Court family at the dining table. Mr. Court is at one end, Mrs. Court is at the other end, their daughter is alone on one side and two young nieces sit together on the other side. Mr. Court is serving the food. Everyone has milk to drink and appears to have a salad above their fork. There are flowers and a salt and pepper set on the table. All the chairs around the table match. There are two windows behind Mr. Court with shades drawn halfway down and drapes with sheers around the windows. Around the corner from the windows is an open door. There is bead board halfway up each wall with occasional batten strips on the plain wall above. There is a photograph of a woman hanging on one wall that bears some resemblance to Mr. Court. A radio and a floor lamp plugged into the wall are visible behind Mr. Court, so there is electricity in the home.Collection
