3 1/8"h x 3"w black and white photo of The Fort, an old house on Oaks-Cooksey Swamp Road on the Charles-St. Mary's County border. The house was probably abandoned because an upstairs dormer window was wide open in January. The photographer was quite a distance from the building and looking uphill. It was a story and a half gable roofed house with a chimney at each gable end. The chimney stacks did not touch the house once the first floor was cleared. There were three gable roofed dormers, each with a six over six double hung window. The exposed siding on the first floor was on the diagonal, so the house may have been stuccoed at once time. Foliage obscured the windows and doors on the first floor.
