3 1/2"h x 5 5/8"w sepia tone posed photograph of an African American farm family standing in a field of tomato plants. On the left was possibly a buyer for a cannery, a man in a white shirt and dark pants in a Fedora hat with a very high crown. He was looking to the right of the camera. Next to him was the young farmer with a bushel basket of tomatoes tipped toward the camera. He had on a cap, had a full beard, and there was a pipe clamped in his teeth. In the background was a young woman in a dark dress. On the right was a tall, heavy set woman in a long white dress. She was holding a branch of tomatoes. The focus of the photo is the buyer's right hand and the woman's left hand--money is changing hands--the family is selling their crop. A close look shows the two women's hats resting on the grass and plants; they probably took them off for the photo.
