Tulip Monument 1964-2Entry/Object ID
2014.018.0040Description
8"h x 10"w black and white photo of the group gathered in front of the Tulip monument for the centennial service. The view is across the water to houses on the opposite shore. It was a sunny day, but cool, based on the women's clothing. There were three rows of folding chairs, a wooden podium in front, three arm chairs visible on the right, a flag on each side of the monument, and a floral or ribbon arrangement on the far right, awaiting placement. Everyone's head is bowed and an officer, possibly the chaplain, at the podium, is likely leading the group in an opening prayer. The monument behind him is about 7' high and about 2' thick. The stone sits on another large flat stone slightly elevated above the grass. The plaque on a stone is barely visible on the ground in front of the podium.
