Hope typed up a two page excerpt from the Archives of Maryland - Proceedings of the Council (1636-1667) Vol. 3 and it is about the charges against Thomas Gerrard Esq.. The excerpt itself details how Thomas Gerrard Esq. of St. Clements Manor spoke slanderously about multiple individuals to the point it damaged their reputation. Due to the damage to their reputations these individuals feared it would affect public opinion on them most terribly. The Council themselves felt as if Thomas had disrespected his Oath to Justice. Alongside the charges of slander, he was also charged for public drunkenness and other lewd behavior.
