Overexposed photo of a very elderly black woman who is centered in the picture. She is looking into the distance and her face is turned to her right. Her body is straight on to the camera. The picture was taken outside in front of a cedar tree and a large bush. There are no leaves on the bush, but there are small flowers in bloom on her right, so it is probably a day in early spring. Judging by the shadows, it is a sunny day.
The woman is thin. She has on very dark framed glasses. She has on a close fitting light colored hat that has a fabric flower or a bow in the back. It may even be a scarf tied in back. Her hair is barely visible under the hat. She has on a long sleeved coat in a flowered material that buttons up the front, but only the collar button is fastened. The sleeves appear to have a cuff and buttons, but they are not fastened. There are puffy pockets on the coat. She also has on a knee length skirt and a blouse and appears to be wearing cotton stockings or possibly long underwear. In her right hand she is holding a very stout cane and her left hand is resting at her waist with the elbow at an angle. She has on dark plastic boots that fold over the instep and fasten with a loop over a button. She does not have on gloves. Sadly, there is no identification of this woman.Collection
