Scope and Content

1 compact disk ; 4 11/16" in diameter Angela Marie Thomas Maddox's oral history interview on April 22, 1997. She was born in Helen, but her family moved to Valley Lee when she was small. They had a ten acre farm and her father was a mortician also. She had to work hard, even as a child. Her mother died when she was 16. She attended school in Great Mills until seventh grade, but then she had to go to Baltimore to school. She was there for a year, in Washington for a year, and then went to Cardinal Gibbons for high school. She and her husband worked at Indian Head and had two small children. He died when the older was seven. She went to Washington to work at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and eventually completed nursing training. It was a difficult life as a single parent. She remarried, but that husband also died early. She is active in her church. She discussed her father's funeral business. She also talked a lot about community customs. The interview is on two disks and in a black plastic container with a bright yellow label on the spine.
