Florence Bailey Lanham's oral history interview on January 16, 1997. She grew up in Wicomico County on the eastern shore. During summers, she picked vegetables on large truck farms. Her father owned buses and farm equipment that he rented. She went to a small local school through the 5th grade and then went to Salisbury for middle and high school. She majored in home economics in college and went on to be a teacher. After seven years of teaching, she joined the county extension office. She met her husband in St. Mary's County; he was a civilian on the base. She discussed race relations in the county and the relationship of local people with outsiders who came to work at the base. She had been active with the county extension program, her church, and United Cerebral Palsy. The interview is on one disk and in a black plastic container with a cream label on the spine.
