Scope and Content

Interview with Alma Jordan about Happyland, a store/rec center where people went to socialize. She was interviewed by Mikki Thompson Waters, Merideth Taylor, Clarissa Ashton Stripling, and Janice Walthour for the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions Oral History Documentation Project. Jordan, Thompson Waters, and Walthour all discussed their experiences growing up with the Happyland Club as a place for community. The club would host dancing, movies, sell groceries, and serve locals. The object contains an audio recording, release forms, transcript, video, and photo of Happyland Club.
