Scope and Content

1 folder ; 9 5/8" x 11 7/8" The Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War are working together to raise funds for a memorial to the United States Colored Troops, all Union soldiers, sailors and Congressional Medal of Honor recipients from St. Mary's County who served in the Civil War. The memorial would be built in Lexington Park. This collection contains two styles of flyers seeking donations for the project, invitations to a dinner at the Hollywood firehouse to kick off a fund-raising campaign, three copies of the programs for the dinner, a red clothbound ledger recording donations to the project, and a booklet about black soldiers in the Civil War. There will probably be additions to this collection over time.
