Carte-de-visite 3 7/16"h x 2 1/4"w on 3 7/8"h x 2 1/2"w board of unknown adult male. He is facing slightly to the left. He has brown hair that has begun to recede. It is parted on the right and combed smoothly to the left. He has large, rather deep set eyes and a generous mustache, but no other facial hair. He has on a white shirt with a spread collar and a dark tie with the ends tucked under the collar. His dark suit coat has a contrasting edge to the collar and lapels--cording? ribbon? He has a similar vest buttoned at the top only. There is a cord looped around his neck and hanging down the vest, something like a bolo tie, but perhaps it is for a watch. This person bears some resemblance to George Simmes.

On the verso there is a starburst effect in the center with the seal of the photographer surmounted by a cross supported on a braid and a serpent wound around the cross. In the band that forms the circle it says "231 Baltimore St. Baltimore, MD." and in the center the initials appear to be J H. At the bottom of the circle is a buckle motif and an end hanging below the circle with something like a fleur-de-lis at the end. At the very bottom edge is printed "The Negative is preserved. duplicate cartes" This piece was in the lower left of page 4 of the dark red photograph album.Collection
