2 5/8"h x 2"w ambrotype of a young woman. Her body faced left, but she looked just to the left of the camera lens. Parted in the center, her dark hair was pulled tight around her head. She may have had a decorative pin or barrette on the back of her head. She wore a white lace collar over her dark dress, and with the skirt spread out around her, it gave the effect of a triangle. She had voluminous sleeves with white inner sleeves and lace or ruffled cuffs. She had a cameo at her throat. The photographer highlighted the woman's cheeks with a light pink blush. This image is in such bad condition that many details are lost. Her face is quite clear, but not the clothing. Much of the black backing on the image is lost and without it, the image is also compromised. Placing the glass on a dark background, the young woman's face appears quite clearly.
