Scope and Content

1 letter and 19 sheets; 11"h x 8 1/2"w Pete A. Vall-Spinosa lived in Bellevue Washington in the fall of 1992. He sent a letter to the rector at St. Andrew's Church with a portion of his grandfather's remembrance, written in the 1950s, of life as a young person in St. Mary's County from 1892-1896. His father, Reverend Zacharias Vallespinosa, was the priest at St. Andrew's Church during that time. The family lived in Leonardtown. Mrs. Vallespinosa had died while the family lived in New York, so life was that much more difficult for the priest. There are descriptions of their house, their buggy, their servants, the priest's duties, activities of young people, etc. Mr. Vall-Spinosa mentioned an aunt, Elaine Cochran, who lived in Scientists' Cliffs in Calvert County. The photocopy has cut off the top and bottom of each page, so there is some loss of information.
