Portrait orientation of the photo. This is a 1987 photo of Veronica Biscoe Reid. She is seated on a sofa, looking straight into the camera. Her pepper and salt hair is gently waved, close to her head on top and flaring out a little around her ears. She has on a dark short sleeved knit top with 2 thin bands of white trim around the neck and a pair of knit slacks with a check background and outlined cinquefoil flowers. She appears to have on hose and has open-toed tri-color leather pumps with perhaps a 1" heel. She does not appear to have a wedding ring. Between her feet is a large pressure cooker that has been well-used.
The sofa has an afghan over the back and a striped throw with fringe covers the seat. A chair next to it is also covered by a throw with ball fringe. The end table between the pieces of furniture has a telephone on the lower shelf and a lamp with a transparent (glass?) shade on the upper shelf. A framed drawing of the Last Supper is on the wall behind Ms. Reid. Draperies of Jacobean style embroidery hang behind the sofa. The light colored carpet is heavily sculpted.Collection
