Thomas R. Hodges acknowledged that he owed Samuel Blair $100.00. Before Walter L. Dent, he declared that Blair had withheld from him one bay horse with a value of $100.00. If Hodges chose to execute a writ of replevin for the horse and then returned it to Blair, Hodge's debt with Blair would be cleared. The names of Thomas Bowling and Charles Bowling appear on the verso of this document, but it is not clear if they are parties to the dispute or simply witnesses to the signatures.
